There's a consistent and reoccurring theme in Bible as it relates to God's people and suffering that goes something like this. Life, more times than we like to admit, is marked with suffering. In this next section of Peter, God wants to prepare his people for the often common storms of life.

That is, being a witness for Jesus through Godly living. Here in the opening verses of 1 Peter 3, Peter instructs wives how they can be a "Woman of Witness."
